Rewrite A Web Page
In order to do editing work for CloudCrowd, you must first earn a credential.
For this task, you will access a URL provided below, linking to Chinese or Korean websites. There you will take 80 to 100 words from the website and edit them into near-perfect English.
The English used is typically very bad. If you want to earn the editor's credential and access work paying significantly more, you need to edit the English into a state of polish. Non-native English speakers will struggle to complete this task. If your English is not of the highest caliber, we recommend skipping this task. The review editors are very critical.
Because of cultural differences, the website may have language that is very strange for native English speakers. Fix the awkward sentences, adjust the copy for an American business perspective, and show off your editing skills.
Please keep in mind the difference between proofreading and editing.
Proofreading
Proofreading is merely to check a written text for errors in spelling and grammar.
Editing
Editing is the process of selecting and preparing language. This means, editors are required to make improvements to word choice and sentence structure; otherwise, it is merely proofreading.
We are looking for editing. Merely fixing a comma splice, extra spacing, or strange capitalization is not adequate to earn your editing credential. The editors reviewing your work will be aware of this requirement.
You will not earn a credential through superficial proofreading.
Important Notes
1. If the URL does not open, you should exit the task and re-enter. Doing so will assign a new piece of work. There is no penalty for doing this.
2. CloudCrowd does not pay for rejected work. Work is rejected if it does not meet our requirements. If you are a non-native English speaker, we highly encourage you to do other tasks you are morely qualified and likely to complete at our standard requirements.
3. This task will automatically time out after 60 min. That being said, this shouldn't take longer than 15 minutes.
4. If there is not enough content on the Home page, go to the Profile or About page and re-write that copy instead. If there are less than 5 paragraphs, rewrite them all. Skip websites that don't have at least 80 words of content.
5. Fairly closely match the length of the original passage. Remove unnecessary text, but don't edit out information the company obviously wants, such as product specifications or certifications.
