Web Designer Job Description
Successful, well-established, privately held US-based marketing organization is seeking a dynamic, resourceful, and experienced Web Designer with wordpress experience to join our team. You will mostly be designing layouts for websites, and modifying WordPress templates. This is an excellent opportunity to join a talented team within a very stable organization. Web Designer is a full time, permanent, direct hire opportunity with no travel requirement! Work from home!
Salary: $4/hr – $6/hr depending on experience. Hourly through Odesk.
Hours: A web designer normally works between 37 and 40 hours a week, 9am to 5.30pm USA EST, Monday to Friday. That would be the night shift in the philippines from 9 pm to 5:30 am. Night shift is required because you will have to chat with team members in real-time during our working hours. Additional hours may be required to meet deadlines, which could include evenings and weekends. You will be paid for those hours.
Skills Preferred:
You must have a very reliable high speed connection to the internet.
MUST HAVE a Portfolio of original Web Design work i.e. Emails, Banners, Landing pages.
3+ years web design/advertising/ experience
Have skills in creating graphics
Have creativity and imagination
Understand wordpress templates and modifying them.
You will need to be excellent in Photoshop, Illustrator (for vectors), CSS and HTML
General Knowledge of Adobe Products (InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat, Photoshop, HTML, CSS, Dreamweaver)
Have good interpersonal and communication skills (an easy going personality with a sense of urgency.)
Be adaptable and able to pick up new techniques. Keep up to date with advances in computer technology and how this affects the business environment.
Applicant should have a good grounding in web design, interactive design, graphic design and internet technology.
Be able to work on your own or with a team
Be able to work to tight deadlines
Be thorough and precise in your work
Be able to multi-task
Be aware of international web standards and protocols
Animation a plus
Multimedia design a plus
Editing for video and audio a plus
Responsibilities:
You will be working with our existing Filipino dev team
You will be responsible for the design, layout of a website.
Establish the purpose of the website based upon its target audience
You will be involved with the graphical aspects of a website; how the site works and how it looks.
Identify the type of content the site will host
Determine any functionality that the site must support
Give guidance on layout, colours and styles.
You will also be involved with the maintenance and update of an existing sites.
You will be working with wordpress templates, and are expected to either design from scratch, or by adapting existing templates or paid templates to meet business requirements
You may be asked to do user testing to test the website and identify any technical problems
upload the site onto a server. You must have a very reliable high speed connection to the internet.
You will be making original graphics from time to time.
You will have to collaborate with web developers on our team.
